About the EG4 3-Slot Enclosed Battery Rack The EG4 3-slot rack is the smaller counterpart to the 6-slot enclosed battery rack, built for systems that need three or fewer batteries. At 26.5 inches tall (29.6 inches with casters), it fits under workbenches, in closets, and in tight mechanical rooms where the full-height 6-slot cabinet wouldn’t work. It’s the same welded steel construction, powder coat finish, and lockable design as the 6-slot, just half the height. Busbars and Wiring The rack includes 300A-rated heavy-duty busbars with protective covers for connecting batteries in parallel. Three EG4 48V 100Ah batteries at full discharge rate draw up to 300A combined, so the busbars are sized to the rack’s capacity without headroom issues. Cable routing knockouts on the top and sides of the enclosure accommodate conduit or wire glands for clean cable management to your inverter. When to Choose the 3-Slot Over the 6-Slot The 3-slot makes sense for starter systems where you’re beginning with one to three batteries and don’t plan to exceed 15.36kWh in a single cabinet. It’s also the right choice when physical space is the constraint, since it takes up roughly half the vertical space and 60 lbs less weight than the 6-slot. If you anticipate growing beyond three batteries, the 6-slot gives you room to expand without buying a second cabinet. The casters on the 3-slot are removable, so you can stack two 3-slot cabinets if your plans change. Security and Ventilation The front door is hinged and lockable with a keyed handle. Both front and rear panels are vented for passive airflow to keep batteries within their operating temperature range. Grounding fasteners on the floor of the cabinet connect to pre-installed grounding wires on the door and rear panel. Installation The rack ships fully assembled. Casters and hardware are packed inside and bolt on in a few minutes. Lower the adjustable rubber feet on each caster to stabilize the cabinet in its final position before loading batteries. One note from installer feedback: if you’re using EG4 LL-S batteries with front handles, consider removing the handles before sliding the batteries in. The spacing around the busbars is tight, and the handles can get in the way during cable connections and firmware updates.
