Key benefits

• An internal heater activates below 32°F and warms the battery until it is safe to charge or discharge again.
• 140A continuous discharge with surges over 300A for 3 seconds suits systems with frequent high surges.
• Pairs with all EG4 inverters and supports closed-loop communication with other inverters, including Victron.
• Degson connectors are designed so the cables cannot be connected to the battery incorrectly.

Key features

• Charges between 32°F and 122°F, with self-heating for use below freezing
• RSD (Rapid Shutdown) compatible through an external RSD button
• Internal busbars sized for up to three batteries in parallel before an external busbar is needed
• Integrated BMS that continually monitors state of charge
• Cables have a Degson connector on one end and raw wire on the other; some inverters need additional lugs

Ideal use

Outdoor installs alongside an outdoor-rated EG4 inverter such as the FlexBOSS21, in most climates including below-freezing conditions.

From the manufacturer

The EG4 48V 280Ah WallMount All Weather LiFePO4 battery is a 14.3kWh lithium battery, suitable to power small off-grid systems, maintain a battery bank, or back up a grid-tied home. For larger installations, parallel additional batteries for commercial or industrial systems. This battery charges at any temperature between 32°F and 122°F, but as a self-heating battery, it’s still possible to use this battery below freezing. The internal heater activates when the battery temperature falls below 32°F. When activated, the heater warms the battery until it’s safe to charge or discharge again. This feature makes the EG4 WallMount All Weather battery an ideal battery for most climates. This operates with a continual discharge capacity of 140A and can surge over 300A for 3 seconds. This makes it a perfect battery for powering complete energy systems with frequent high surges. It can be complicated to find a battery and inverter combination, but EG4 has eliminated this difficulty. All EG4 inverters pair with the EG4 Outdoor WallMount battery. For outdoor installations, choose an outdoor rated EG4 inverter like the FlexBOSS21. The WallMount batteries also facilitate closed loop communication with other inverters, including Victron. EG4 sells a convenient conduit box designed specifically to pair with their outdoor batteries and inverters. This conduit box includes knockouts to fit with this EG4 battery and outdoor rated EG4 inverters, easing the installation process and increasing the installation speed. The EG4 WallMount All Weather battery also includes two red 2/0 AWG power cables and two black 2/0 AWG power cables. Both sets of cables include a Degson connector on one end for easy connection to the matching Degson connectors on the battery. The other end is raw wire. Different inverters require different cable connections, so an energy system may require additional lugs. Degson has designed these connectors so it’s impossible to improperly connect the cables to the battery. This feature increases overall safety in the system and makes the entire Degson connection system ideal for both installers and DIYers. LiFePO4 batteries are some of the safest in the market, and EG4 has incorporated additional safety features by making this battery RSD (Rapid Shutdown) compatible. When activated, an external RSD button turns off all connected EG4 batteries and inverters. This is vital in an emergency as it immediately removes power from these sources. Additional features include internal busbars and an integrated BMS (battery management system). The busbars are correctly sized to connect up to three batteries in parallel before needing an external busbar. This makes it easy to connect the battery to the rest of the energy system and eliminates the need for additional external busbars in smaller systems. The built-in BMS monitors the battery to improve performance and prolong battery life. It continually monitors the battery’s state of charge to make sure the battery is never overcharged or undercharged. This keeps the battery healthy and fully operable for at least 8,000 cycles at an 80% DOD (depth of discharge). The BMS tracks cell voltage and measures the battery temperature in four locations. This information is displayed on the battery LCD screen. The LCD screen and the indicator LEDs provide a quick way to monitor the battery. The screen is used for some initial setup functions, such as selecting the communication protocol, and it’s a simple way to immediately identify crucial battery information such as voltage and amps. Four LEDs indicate the battery SOC (State of Charge %). Each LED represents 25% of charge, so when all four are on, the battery is at 100%. When two are on, the battery is at 50%, and when one is on, the battery is at 25%. There is also an alarm LED that flashes or remains solid to indicate different kinds of battery faults. Overall, this EG4 battery is an excellent choice for residential energy storage or industrial app
