Overview

Designed for North American RVs with split-phase wiring and 50A shore power, this 12V MultiPlus-II 3kVA 2x120V model is UL 458 certified. It passes 120/240V through when shore power is connected, so one unit can do the job of two inverters in a split-phase setup.

Key benefits

  • One 2x120V unit removes the need for two inverters in a split-phase configuration.
  • 120V loads on L1 and L2 stay powered from the battery when shore power is disconnected.
  • 240V loads only run when split-phase input is present, preserving battery for critical loads.

Key features

  • 12V battery input with 120A battery charger
  • 120/240V passthrough with split-phase input
  • One AC input and two AC outputs
  • PowerAssist and PowerControl
  • Programmable through VictronConnect
  • UL 458 certified

Ideal use

12V North American RVs on 50A shore power that need only as much inverter capacity as a single unit provides.

From the manufacturer

About Victron’s 12V MultiPlus-II 3kVA 2×120V Inverter Charger Victron’s 12V MultiPlus-II 3kVA 2×120V inverter-charger is UL 458 certified and is specifically designed for North American RVs with its split phase wiring and 50A shore power. It has one AC input and two AC outputs. The Multiplus-II is a low frequency inverter with an unprecedented idle consumption of 15W. It’s rated for 2.4kW continuous output that peaks at 5.5kW. This enables pumps, motors, or other high surge items to draw needed power without interruptions or system failures. In addition to handling high surges, the MultiPlus-II is highly programmable through the VictronConnect software. These features enable automated programming, such as activating a fan when the temperature reaches a certain level. 2×120V Split Phase Capability The 2×120V feature means the inverter receives 120/240V input and delivers 120/240V output when the split-phase input is present. While the inverter only uses 120V power to charge the batteries, loads can be connected to both L1 and L2 and receive 120V power at any time, even if the 120/240V power input is disconnected. Loads that require 240V power must be connected to both L1 and L2 outputs, but they will not receive power when the inverter is disconnected from split-phase power that is supplied by AC input. Just like all Victron 120V inverters, this inverter can only output 120V power from the batteries. When there is no 120/240V power input available, 120V loads on both L1 and L2 receive 120V power, though 240V loads receive 0V. When 120/240V power input is restored, the 240V loads receive 240V power. This allows large loads like water pumps to operate only when AC input is available, preserving battery power for the critical loads in the system. Choosing the 2×120V inverter removes the need to use two inverters in split-phase configuration to achieve 120/240V power. This inverter is ideal for those who only need as much power as a single inverter can provide. If multiple units are needed within the same system, check out the Victron 12V MultiPlus-II 3kVA 120V Inverter. PowerAssist and PowerControl PowerAssist and PowerControl settings control incoming power and outgoing power. PowerControl limits power intake when incoming power is limited, and PowerAssist monitors the system for maximum efficiency. PowerAssist continuously monitors incoming power, battery charge, and load requirements to provide extra power if needed. When load demands are greater than incoming AC, the inverter adds up to 2.4kW in addition to the existing AC input. When incoming power is more than the loads consume, PowerAssist automatically diverts extra AC power to battery charging. Dual AC Outputs The MultiPlus-II powers the first AC output continuously and powers the second AC output only when power is available from either AC input. This means critical loads should be connected to the first output, and it makes the second output ideal for non-essential loads or loads that could rapidly drain a battery, such as a hot water heater. Choose Victron’s Multiplus-II for an inverter with dual outputs, numerous programmable settings, and Victron’s PowerAssist feature. It’s an excellent choice for a grid-tied, off-grid, or mobile applications.
